Topik “PIYAMBAKAN” Sudirman, an alumnus of Sociology Department of FISIP UNS having successful career following his interest and talent

We often hear the refrain of “Piyambakan” song performed by Topik Sudirman in various media recently. Taufiq Cahya Sudirman, or usually called Topik Sudirman, is a vocalist of FISIP Meraung band group constituting an alumnus of Sociology Department of FISIP UNS successfully being a musician, a youtuber, and content creator. Topik is a 2011-generation student of Sociology under Dr. Bagus Haryono M.Si’s academic guidance. In the end of his study period, Topic wrote a thesis themed Cultural Sociology and Urban Sociology entitled Perubahan Sosial atas Lokananta Sebagai Ruang Publik Kota Solo (Social Change of Lokananta as Public Space in Solo City) under the guidance of Dr. Akhmad Ramdhon, S.Sos. M.A.

Topik Sudirman is a musician and an active youtuber all at once having channel named “Topik Sudirman”. He is known as a vocalist and a guitarist of FISIP Meraung band group along with his friends, one of which is Athif Rasyid constituting an alumnus of Sociology Department of FISIP UNS as well serving as drummer and manager of the band, and Megananda as bassist. Topik Sudirman and his band group, FISIP Meraung, have some songs: Pedot, Mencintaimu dalam Diam, Dadi Aku Sedino Wae, Bis Tingkat, Balen, De’e, Mbokku, Ngenteni Koe, Piyambakan and the newest one, Sepurane.

The songs are uploaded in Topik Sudirman’s youtube channel and responded to positively particularly by popular-gender music lovers. The relate image generated as it is raised from the reality of social life makes the viewers enjoy and even comprehend deeply the songs. Moreover, the use of Javanese language sharpens the relate image of the song and represents his love to Javanese culture. In addition, Topik Sudirman also has collaborated with other pop singer such as Dory Harsa in his song entitled Piyambakan. This collaborative video has been viewed by nearly 38,000 viewers in his youtube channel. Topik Sudirman channel made in 2014 has reached over 67,500 and 8,421,365 viewers in his private youtube account up to 2022. The contents featured are, among others, his music works, web series, podcast, and daily vlog. In addition to Youtube content, Topik Sudirman actively using social media like Instagram with more than 319,000 followers.

As an alumnus of Sociology Department of FISIP UNS, Topik Sudirman has inspired other Sociology students to continue their career in the future according to their own interest and talent. Topik Sudirman is interested in Cultural Sociology and Urban Sociology, as he wrote in his thesis, and it can be a factor supporting his activity in producing contents and songs telling about social life reality. Topik also proves that a student can be successful in various ways and not limited to course, class, and study program they have attended.
