Department of Sociology of Faculty of Social and Political Sciences of Universitas Sebelas Maret has been established since May 29, 1986 and has been accredited with grade A by BAN-PT. This department has a vision to be a superior, innovative, and transformative study program at international level based on the national cultural high values.

Department of Sociology of Faculty of Social and Political Sciences UNS is oriented to create students with competencies to be social researcher, social planner, community development analyst and social problem analyst supported with adequate facility and infrastructure, as well as resource.
