1 | Civic Education | The course discusses the definition and scope of civic education, national identity, citizen’s rights and obligation, constitution, democracy, and archipelagic insight as well as national resilience, politics, and national strategy |
2 | Basic of Logics | This course aims to enable the students to explain the basics of logic, to understand the concepts of Sociology, to explain reasoning using deductive and inductive methods, and to arrange proposition into a hypothesis, having attended this course. Through hypothesis, students will be able to understand the scientific logic process in social studies. |
3 | An Introduction to Sociology | This course aims to give the Sociology students an introduction to the early learning process in the campus. For that reason, the learning scheme trying to be developed is an attempt to expand the perspective to identify Sociology more broadly with presentation and class discussion sessions, supporting literature review, and analysis development through paper writing technique. The learning scheme is implemented through elaborating basic concepts of sociology, theoretical discussion as either classical or modern early review, method discussion as early review and analysis discussion as early review conducted by studying a variety of supporting literatures. |
4 | An introduction to Political Science | This course aims to enable the students to understand an Introduction to or Basics of Political Science, by developing political phenomenon as an attempt of comprehending historically, conceptually, and theoretically and constructing the cognition of political science comprehension |
5 | Composition of Indonesian Language | This course emphasizes on the Indonesian writing ability, so that the students will have writing ability and produce scientific work using correct Indonesian |
6 | Indonesian Economic System | This course focuses on some themes of economic system existing in the world, from capitalistic system, socialistic economic system, and neoliberal economic system. Thereafter, this course also reveals the characteristics of respective economic system with its own strength and weakness. Students are taught about the strength and the weakness of respective economic system. It also critically reviews some subsystems successfully making the people prosperous. Similarly, some less successful cases are also revealed. For that reason, we also study what Indonesia should do in using an economic systems most suitable to Indonesians. |
7 | Education of Islam | This course is designed to teach important materials of Islam religion that can enable students to have intact (kaffah) personality by making Islam teachings the foundation of thinking, having attitude, and behaving, particularly in developing their knowledge and profession. An intact personality can be achieved by implanting faith and piety to Allah SWT only. Building an awareness that faith and piety will be achieved if only they are supported with the development of such elements as Islamic knowledge, religion dispositions, Islamic skills, Islamic commitment, moslem confidence, and Islamic competence. |
8 | Christian Religion Education | Christian students who live in the present are faced with various offers of life values which are positive and negative. Therefore, they need Christian values that can be used as a reference in thinking, behaving and acting. In the life of the nation and state, nation Indonesia has been experiencing a multidimensional crisis for some time. Prolonged crisis tends to breed frustration in society and in situations like this conflict and violence can easily spread in various places. Christian students are called to be preachers and peacemakers wherever they are. Christian Religious Education Lectures in Universities College is expected to provide benefits, namely equipping Christian students in the process of self-discovery and the formation of character as a Christian intellectual who is able to embody religious values and faith in all aspects of life. |
8 | Catholic Religion Education | This course is a General Compulsory Course that examines and discusses vocation of human life according to the Scriptures, discusses the relationship between man and himself, others, the environment and God, as well as religion and faith lived in plurality. This course too discussing Jesus Christ, the Church, and community faith, and living the motto 100% Catholic 100% Indonesian in everyday life. |
9 | English for Social Sciences | This course aims to give the students an understanding on the norms of academic writing as their foundation of scientific paper writing. It also gives the students an understanding on how to avoid plagiarism and to improve their ability of finding academic sources for paper writing purpose. This course expected to enable the students to identify the errors commonly done in academic writing and to correct them in order to improve their scientific paper writing ability according to the norms of academic writing. |
10 | Indonesian Legal System | This course aims to enable the students to explain Indonesian legal philosophy and system. The comprehension of law becomes important in Sociology as law is a social fact explaining the orderliness of social order. The function of law as the guard of order stability will be discussed frequently in Sociology, particularly Sociology of Law. Therefore, this course underlies or becomes a precondition to attend the Sociology of Law course in the next semester. |
